A Grade 11 student has gone missing after reportedly drowning in the Kehelgamu Oya, which is a stream that flows into the Castlereagh Reservoir. The missing boy is a student at Norwood Tamil Maha Vidyalaya. Reports indicate that this incident took place this afternoon, April 4, while he and some friends were swimming at a spot called “Silver Wala” in the Kehelgamu Oya in Norwood. It is believed that he drowned and is now missing. His friends tried to save him, but they were unable to do so because he disappeared in a deep part of the river. The Norwood Police have been informed about the situation. A search effort has begun to find the missing student.
