An explosion occurred at the headquarters of D66, the largest political party in the Dutch parliament, on Thursday night, according to local police. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. Following the blast, police arrested a suspect. The incident took place at the party's office in the center of The Hague shortly after 9 p.m. local time (1900 GMT). Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten, who also leads D66, stated that a bomb made from fireworks was thrown through the building's front door letterbox. He condemned the act as “a cowardly act of intimidation.” D66, a centrist and pro-EU party, achieved a surprising victory in last year’s elections against the far-right Freedom Party led by nationalist Geert Wilders. The party's office had previously suffered damage during an anti-immigration protest last year, where protesters broke windows, viewing D66 as a representative of a progressive elite.
