Showers expected in several provinces after 1pm

Showers and thundershowers are likely in many areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and North-western provinces, along with Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, and Monaragala districts after 1:00 p.m. In the morning, light showers may occur along the coast of the Western province and in Galle and Matara districts. Early in the morning, misty conditions can be expected in parts of Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, as well as in Ampara and Polonnaruwa districts. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce risks from sudden strong winds and lightning during thundershowers. From April 5th to 15th this year, the sun will be directly overhead at latitudes in Sri Lanka. Today, April 8th, the sun is expected to be overhead around 12:12 noon in areas including Warakapola, Aranayaka, Gampola, Bibile, Inginiyagala, and Akkaraipattu.
