Key bridge linking Saudi Arabia to the island of Bahrain closes over threats from Iranian attacks

The King Fahd Causeway, an important bridge that connects Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, was closed on Tuesday morning due to threats of Iranian attacks. The King Fahd Causeway Authority shared this information in a message on X. They stated that all vehicle traffic had been halted as a safety measure because of Iranian threats aimed at Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. This 25-kilometer (15.5-mile) bridge is the only road link for Bahrain, which hosts the U.S. Navy’s 5th Fleet, to the Arabian Peninsula. Although there has not been an official threat against the King Fahd Causeway, some hard-liners in Iran have increasingly viewed it as a potential target. This danger may increase if Trump proceeds with his warned attacks on bridges in Iran.
