Iranian intelligence minister killed, Israel says
Iran’s intelligence minister, Esmaeil Khatib, has been reported dead, according to Israel's defense minister. Katz stated that Khatib was "eliminated" in a strike that occurred overnight. There has been no official confirmation from Iran about Khatib’s death. Katz mentioned that he and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have given the military the green light to target any other high-ranking Iranian official without needing further approval. This news follows Tehran's acknowledgment of the recent killings of Ali Larijani, the country’s influential national security chief, and the leader of the IRGC’s Basij paramilitary force. Khatib was one of the officials the US sought information on last week, offering a reward of up to $10 million. The reward was aimed at ten officials linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including security chief Ali Larijani, who was killed on Monday, and the new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
