Amir Hatami, the chief of the Iranian army, has stated that the deaths of 104 crew members from the IRIS Dena, one of Iran's latest warships, in the Indian Ocean will not be ignored. According to Iran's IRNA news agency, Hatami said the Dena's crew had just finished a peaceful mission and were attacked while returning home to Iran. He noted that the sailors were not involved in any direct fighting when they were targeted. Hatami emphasized that the name of Dena and the bravery of its crew will be a lasting symbol of courage in Iran's naval history. He also affirmed that the army will protect Iran's maritime borders and will work to enhance its naval strength with even more resolve.
