IAEA confirms some damage to Iran s Natanz nuclear site
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed on Tuesday that entrances to Iran's underground uranium-enrichment facility at Natanz have sustained damage due to military attacks by the U.S. and Israel. The Fuel Enrichment Plant (FEP) is one of three uranium-enrichment sites in Iran that were operational when Israeli and U.S. forces targeted Iranian nuclear sites last June. The IAEA stated on X, "Based on the latest satellite images, we can now confirm some recent damage to the entrance buildings of Iran’s underground Natanz Fuel Enrichment Plant." They also noted, "No radiological consequences are expected, and no additional effects have been detected at the FEP itself, which was heavily damaged during the June conflict." This assessment aligns with a report from the U.S. think tank, the Institute for Science and International Security, which was released on Monday. Iran reported that Natanz was struck on Sunday, and the IAEA indicated that the military strikes did not cause significant damage.
