Pakistan to boycott T20 World Cup match against India
Pakistan has decided not to play against India in the 2026 T20 World Cup. The Government of Pakistan shared this news through an official post on X, stating that they allowed the cricket team to go to Sri Lanka for the tournament. However, they made it clear that “the Pakistan cricket team shall not take the field in the match scheduled on 15 February 2026 against India.” The statement did not explain why they made this choice. In Group A, Pakistan will compete alongside India, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the USA, with all matches being held in Sri Lanka, which is co-hosting the tournament with India. Their first game is against the Netherlands on February 7, the opening day of the T20 World Cup. After that, they will face the USA on February 10 and Namibia on February 18. If Pakistan goes ahead with the boycott against India, they will lose the two points from that match.
