To Lam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, is currently speaking in the Parliament of Sri Lanka during his two-day official visit. The Secretary General of Parliament, Kushani Rohanadeera, made a special announcement, highlighting that this marks the first time in 11 years that a foreign leader has addressed the Sri Lankan Parliament. She pointed out that the last foreign head of state to do so was Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015. Rohanadeera also mentioned that all formal honors for the visiting Vietnamese President have been arranged for a special ceremony in Parliament. A street parade, organized by the tri-forces, was part of the arrangements, and the Speaker of Parliament, Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, warmly welcomed President To Lam. The event was attended by Members of Parliament, ambassadors, and other important guests. The official state reception for President To Lam took place this morning (08), following his arrival in Sri Lanka last night (07) for his state visit. To Lam arrived at Bandaranaike International Airport with a delegation of 209 members.
