World Bank assistance to reform and modernise SL s revenue-generating state institutions
A team led by Gevorg Sargsyan, the World Bank Country Manager for Sri Lanka, met with Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, the Secretary to the President, this morning (06) at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo. The meeting focused on plans to reform and modernize state institutions that generate revenue. The President’s Media Division reported that they also discussed programs designed to protect the integrity of public sector employees. The talks included updates on the ongoing efforts to reform and modernize government revenue institutions, which receive support from the World Bank. They highlighted the work of the Revenue Administration Reform and Modernisation Bureau, created under the Presidential Secretariat to improve state institutions. Future cooperation between the World Bank and this bureau was also a topic of discussion. Additionally, the meeting addressed the importance of World Bank representatives working with programs related to the Internal Affairs Units, which aim to ensure the integrity of officials in state institutions. Present at the meeting were Gevorg Sargsyan, Richard Walker, Anthony Obeyesekere, and Till Hartman, who are all part of the World Bank team.
