The Cabinet of Ministers in Sri Lanka has approved a fuel subsidy for fishing boats, according to an announcement from the Fisheries Ministry. As part of this scheme, small fishing vessels will get a subsidy of Rs. 50 for each litre of fuel. Additionally, multi-day fishing boats will be eligible for Rs. 150,000 for every trip they make. The Ministry noted that this subsidy will start on 20 April 2026.
