Opposition Leader Sajith calls on nation to uphold peace, truth and unity this Easter

In his Easter message, Sajith Premadasa, the Opposition Leader, reminded everyone that Easter is a holy time that represents hope, rebirth, and fresh starts for communities. He sent heartfelt greetings to the people of Sri Lanka. Premadasa pointed out that Christians globally celebrate Easter with great respect, reflecting on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who overcame evil, while observing the 40-day Lent season through fasting, prayer, and spiritual contemplation. He also mentioned that, despite the celebrations, the painful memories of the tragic suicide attacks on churches and hotels during Easter Sunday seven years ago still affect many. The Opposition Leader stressed that it is crucial for the state to seek justice for the victims and uncover the truth, highlighting the need for law, accountability, and transparency. He called on all Sri Lankans to work together to create a society based on trust, peace, and unity among different ethnic groups, religions, and communities. He reiterated that this Easter, while remembering the victims, the country must stay dedicated to truth, justice, and a vision for a strong and fair future.
