Area near Iran s Bushehr nuclear power plant attacked again
Iran's atomic agency reported that an airstrike struck near the Bushehr nuclear facility, resulting in the death of a security guard and damage to a support building. The agency shared news of the attack on social media, which took place on Saturday. This marks the fourth attack on the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant since the conflict began on February 28. The strike occurred around 8:30 AM local time, damaging one of the auxiliary buildings, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency. The agency warned that serious damage to the plant, which holds large amounts of radioactive material, could lead to a major nuclear incident with serious and lasting effects on the region. Preliminary investigations indicated that the main facilities of the plant were not harmed and its operational status remains unchanged. Meanwhile, the US military continued its urgent search for a pilot missing after Iran shot down an American warplane. Iran urged citizens to report the pilot, offering a reward for information. The aircraft, identified by Iran as a US F-15E Strike Eagle, was one of two attacked on Friday. One service member was rescued, but at least one remains unaccounted for. This incident marks the first time the United States has lost an aircraft in Iranian territory during the ongoing conflict, which is now in its sixth week, potentially signaling a significant shift in the situation. The war, initiated by the US and Israel on February 28, has affected the entire region, resulting in thousands of deaths, disturbing global markets, disrupting vital shipping routes, and driving fuel prices higher, with no indications of de-escalation as Iran retaliates against US and Israeli airstrikes with attacks throughout the area.
