Roman Marshavin, the Deputy Minister of Energy from Russia, has arrived in Sri Lanka for a three-day official visit. He and his delegation touched down at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at approximately 10:52 a.m. today. They were welcomed by Nishantha Jayaweera, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, along with Levan S. Dzhagaryan, the Russian Ambassador in Colombo. Earlier this week, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, the Cabinet Spokesman, mentioned that talks have started at the government level to arrange fuel supplies from Russia. During a media briefing at the Department of Government Information, Minister Jayatissa stated that the government is exploring options for acquiring fuel through intergovernmental agreements, and discussions have already begun. He also confirmed that the Russian Deputy Energy Minister’s visit to Sri Lanka will include important discussions on this topic.
