Today, the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported that its air defences successfully intercepted nine ballistic missiles, six cruise missiles, and 148 drones. Since Iranian attacks began, the UAE’s MoD has detected a total of 174 ballistic missiles aimed at the country; of these, 161 were destroyed, while 13 landed in the sea. Additionally, the UAE has identified 689 Iranian drones, with 645 being intercepted and 44 landing within its borders. The Ministry stated that three people have died and 68 have sustained minor injuries during these incidents. The sounds heard in various regions are due to air defence systems intercepting missiles and fighter jets targeting drones and cruise missiles, according to the MoD. It noted that these interceptions caused minor to moderate damage to some civilian properties. In a related development, Qatar’s Ministry of Defense announced that it shot down two Iranian Su-24 bombers on Monday. This marks the first instance of any country downing Iranian aircraft since the conflict escalated. Qatar also intercepted seven ballistic missiles using its air defences and took out five Iranian drones with the support of its Air Force and Navy. The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the Qatar Armed Forces are fully equipped and ready to protect the nation’s sovereignty and respond effectively to any external threats.
