Putin warns of regional conflict in calls with gulf leaders
Russian President Vladimir Putin had discussions on Monday with four important leaders from Persian Gulf nations. He warned them that the attacks by the US and Israel on Iran might lead to a wider regional conflict. Following his talk with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Kremlin reported that both leaders shared serious worries about the chances of the conflict spreading. This situation has already impacted several Arab nations and could result in severe consequences. Putin emphasized the importance of using diplomacy to handle this "extremely dangerous situation." The crown prince mentioned that Russia could help stabilize the area because of its strong ties with both Iran and the Gulf countries. Russia has consistently criticized the US and Israeli attacks, including the assassination of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Putin also had a conversation with Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates. The Kremlin noted that both parties agreed on the need to stop fighting and return to a political and diplomatic dialogue. In a call with Qatar's emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, both leaders expressed their worries about the risks of the conflict escalating in the Middle East and the potential involvement of other countries. Additionally, Putin spoke with the king of Bahrain.
