The National Electricity Policy has not yet been presented to the Cabinet of Ministers, according to reports. The Cabinet met yesterday (23), but no documents about the National Electricity Policy were submitted. This has delayed the Cabinet's approval for the policy, which in turn has postponed the restructuring of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). The timeline for the CEB's eventual liquidation is also likely to be pushed back. The restructuring process of the CEB is planned in five phases, and four of these phases have already been completed. The drafting of the National Electricity Policy is reportedly finished, and the date for the CEB's liquidation will be announced once the Cabinet gives its approval. Previously, the Ceylon Electricity Board mentioned that the official gazette notice for the policy would be issued on February 28.
