Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa shared a New Year message urging efforts to find fair and lasting solutions for all citizens. He stated, “The year 2026 will undoubtedly be tough for our nation, Sri Lanka. Starting today, we need to clearly acknowledge this reality and prioritize reason over emotions in our actions. “The economic, social, and political issues we have faced after an unexpected crisis have now taken on a new level of complexity. It is clear that these problems cannot be solved through individual efforts or separate plans alone. Thus, I want to stress that cooperation, both within our country and with the international community, is more crucial now than ever. “Doing nothing out of despair or feeling powerless will not lead to improvement. Real change can only happen when we all work together for everyone's benefit. “We must be willing to find common ground, agree where we can, and take action based on that shared understanding. As Albert Einstein noted, there is no distinction between big and small problems when it comes to truth and justice, because all issues related to how people are treated are fundamentally the same. “In this upcoming difficult year, we should treat every issue faced by our fellow citizens with equal importance and aim for just and lasting solutions. I wish courage and strength in the New Year to all religious leaders, political and social activists, and to the entire population of our country as we move forward with this vision and philosophy.”
