Police vow impartial probe into vehicle collision involving MP Asoka Ranwala
The Sapugaskanda Police Station has launched an investigation into a serious car crash involving Asoka Ranwala, a former Speaker and Member of Parliament from the NPP. The collision resulted in injuries to several people, including a baby. Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wootler shared this information at a press briefing today, October 12. He mentioned that two people hurt in the crash are being treated at the Colombo National Hospital, and a six-month-old baby is receiving care at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children. ASP Wootler also noted that a medical report has been requested to check if any of the drivers were drinking alcohol at the time of the accident. He assured that the police will act on the report's findings, no matter who is involved. The spokesperson added that police were unable to take a statement from MP Asoka Ranwala yesterday because he is currently a patient at the National Hospital. He anticipates that the medical report will be available by this afternoon and confirmed that no arrests have been made regarding this incident so far.
