Navy renders assistance to bring ashore injured fisherman for urgent medical attention
After a formal request for help was made through MRCC Colombo, the nearby Merchant Vessel ‘MT MAUI’ was alerted to assist in the rescue. In a quick response, the Navy sent a vessel from the Southern Naval Command to the area where the Merchant Vessel was located to bring the fisherman back to shore. Once the injured fisherman was transferred from the Merchant Vessel, naval personnel provided crucial first aid before quickly taking him to Galle Harbour. The Navy ensured the fisherman received the specialized care he needed without delay by safely transferring him to the National Hospital in Galle. The Navy remains vigilant for emergencies involving the fishing and naval communities, working closely with MRCC Colombo.
