BCCI to conduct surprise checks on IPL teams over compliance of guidelines
This morning, May 8, 2026, an official welcoming ceremony took place at the Presidential Secretariat, hosted by President Dissanayake. Upon his arrival, President To Lam was escorted by the Police Mounted Division and received a warm greeting from President Dissanayake. The ceremony began with the national anthems of both nations being played, followed by a ceremonial gun salute in honor of President To Lam. After the salute, both leaders reviewed the Tri-Forces Guard of Honour, and the delegations from Vietnam and Sri Lanka were introduced. Official photographs were taken with both leaders present. Sri Lanka's delegation included several notable officials, such as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath, Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, and Minister of Science and Technology Professor Krishantha Abeysena, among others. President To Lam, who is also the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, is accompanied by a 209-member delegation during this State Visit. In related news, it has been reported by the Police that former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SriLankan Airlines, Kapila Chandrasena, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a residence in Colpetty. Additionally, there are calls for an inquiry into remarks made by AKD regarding a court verdict from May 25.
