Fairly heavy rainfall above 75 mm expected in some parts of the island
Heavy rainfall of over 75 mm is anticipated in certain areas of Sri Lanka. The Department of Meteorology announced that a low-level atmospheric disturbance near the island will keep the current rainy conditions going for the next few days. Most places will see showers or thundershowers starting after 1:00 pm. In the morning, showers are also expected in the Western, North-Western, and Northern provinces, as well as in Trincomalee, Galle, and Matara districts. Some regions in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Southern, and North-Central provinces may experience fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm. Additionally, misty conditions may develop in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces during the early morning hours. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage from strong winds and lightning that can occur during thundershowers.
