State Banquet Hosted by the President for the Maldivian President and Delegation

He stressed that these challenges can only be tackled through unity and working together, appreciating the Maldives’ support during Sri Lanka’s tough times. He expressed that the discussions between the two leaders would open new paths for cooperation between their peoples. President Dissanayake invited President Muizzu to collaborate in upholding values like tolerance, compassion, and sustainability, highlighting the importance of unity for a brighter future. He wished President Muizzu and the Maldivian delegation well, expressing confidence that the visit would enhance the progress and prosperity of both nations. In his address, President Muizzu expressed his happiness about visiting Sri Lanka, a long-time partner in the Maldives' history. He described the event as more than just a diplomatic meeting; it was a celebration of a friendship deep as the ocean that links the two island nations. He remarked that for centuries, the waters between their shores have carried not just trade and travelers, but also trust, affection, and a shared rhythm of peaceful coexistence based on cooperation. President Muizzu referred to the strong bonds between the two nations as a golden thread that connects them, marked by humility and sincerity. He highlighted that their friendship is rooted in mutual respect and has endured throughout the years. He remembered that Sri Lanka has always extended a hand of friendship to the Maldives, thanking the Sri Lankan people for their support in developing the Maldives.
