A man who allegedly pretended to be a doctor and is connected to several crimes was arrested by the Polonnaruwa Divisional Crime Investigation Division, according to police. The 59-year-old suspect, who lives in Pannala, Kurunegala, was taken into custody in Polonnaruwa. Police reported that he had been previously arrested by multiple police stations, including Borella, Kandy, Minuwangoda, and Divulapitiya, for various offenses. Investigations show that he had already served a two-year prison sentence. During his arrest, police recovered several items from him, such as a stethoscope, a medical uniform, and a fake identification card. The investigations also revealed that he had been impersonating a doctor in the maternity ward of Hingurakgoda Hospital. He is expected to appear in front of the Polonnaruwa Magistrate’s Court today (06), while investigations continue.
