UAE captain Waseem fined and handed demerit point for criticising umpiring

In another match, Bangladesh secured their third consecutive ODI series victory by defeating New Zealand by 55 runs in the third ODI in Chattogram on Thursday. This win came after Bangladesh lost the first match by 26 runs. Bangladesh had previously won two ODI series—against West Indies in October 2025 and Pakistan last month. This marks the first time they have achieved three ODI series wins in a row since their five-series winning streak in 2021 and 2022. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mustafizur Rahman played key roles and ended their long waits for milestones. Shanto scored his first ODI century in two years, making it his fourth overall, while Mustafizur achieved his first five-wicket haul in seven years. Litton Das also scored a fifty, his first since the 2023 ODI World Cup. Shanto made 105 runs off 119 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes, while he and Litton added 160 runs, setting a fourth-wicket record for Bangladesh against New Zealand. They revived the innings after Bangladesh fell to 32 for 3 in the ninth over. Will O’Rourke dismissed Saif Hassan with an out-swinger on the first ball, followed by both Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar getting bowled. The fourth-wicket duo was cautious in the first 12 overs, slowly rebuilding the innings. New Zealand committed a couple of fielding mistakes in the 20th over, which helped Bangladesh gain momentum. Shanto’s boundary in that over brought up their fifty partnership. Left-arm seamer Muhammad Abbas dropped Litton on 29 off his own bowling, and Shanto continued to excel, reaching back-to-back fifty-plus scores. Shanto was more aggressive in the partnership, while Litton took 60 balls to hit his first four. As their partnership surpassed 100 runs, Bangladesh gained control of the match. Shanto attacked Nathan Smith a couple of times, scoring a six and a four. O’Rourke dropped him at midwicket when he was on 75. Shanto was closing in on his fourth ODI century, and Litton hit O’Rourke for two boundaries before being dismissed by Jayden Lennox for 76. After Shanto fell in the 43rd over, Bangladesh's scoring slowed down significantly, mainly due to a long batting tail. Towhid Hridoy and Mehidy Hasan Miraz did not push the scoring during the final overs, as Bangladesh ended with just three fours and a six in the last ten overs.
