The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a water cut lasting 12 hours for Pelanwatta and nearby areas due to ongoing dry weather. This interruption will take place from 8:00 p.m. today, April 7, until 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, April 8. The affected locations include Pelanwatta, Siddamulla, Arawwala, Niwanthidiya, Bokundara Road, Rathmaldeniya, Maharagama–Piliyandala Road, Moraketiya Road, Hiripitiya, Gorakapitiya Road, Niyandagala Road, Dolekade Junction, Kudamaduwa (along the 255 bus route), and Pubudu Mawatha (also along the 255 bus route). The NWSDB explained that water production at the Labugama and Kalatuwawa treatment plants has decreased due to a significant drop in reservoir levels from the extended dry period. These two plants are the main sources of water for the affected areas, prompting the temporary water cuts. Residents in these regions are encouraged to collect enough water beforehand and to use it carefully during the outage.
