Iran's Fars news agency, linked to the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), reported that 15 ships moved through the Strait of Hormuz in the last 24 hours "with Iran's permission." However, this traffic is still 90% less than what it was before the war began. Some Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, have insisted that this key shipping route is not closed, but is only restricted for "enemy countries." For instance, Iran stated that Iraq is not affected by these restrictions, according to a spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarter. Additionally, Iranian officials and lawmakers have discussed the idea of charging fees for vessels using the strait. An aide from Iran’s President’s Office mentioned that the Strait of Hormuz "will be reopened" when some of the toll money is used to cover the damages caused by the war.
