Water cut duration reduced to 18 hours - NWSDB
The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a reduction in the length of planned water supply interruptions to 18 hours. This decision comes after receiving feedback from residents. The Water Board also confirmed that the dates and locations for the water cuts will remain unchanged. They urged the public in Sri Lanka to conserve water during this time. Initially, a 24-hour water cut was set for several areas, including Padukka, Homagama, Pelanwatta, and Pannipitiya, due to ongoing dry weather affecting the region. Currently, the water cut in Padukka began at 8:00 p.m. yesterday (02) and will last until 8:00 p.m. today (03). Additionally, Homagama will experience a 24-hour water cut starting at 8:00 p.m. today (03) and ending at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (April 4). From 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (04) to 8:00 p.m. on April 5, Pelanwatta will also face a 24-hour water suspension. Furthermore, Pannipitiya is scheduled for a 24-hour water cut every four days, starting from 8:00 p.m. on April 02. However, the NWSDB has assured that the planned 24-hour interruptions will now be shortened to 18 hours based on consumer requests.
