Veteran journalist Bhakti Dharmapriya Mendis has died at the age of 47. He was receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the National Hospital in Colombo after suffering serious injuries from a road accident. Mendis started his journalism career in 2000 as one of the founding members of the editorial board for the Lakbima newspaper. He later wrote for the Dinamina and Rivira newspapers. His body will be at his home in Boossa, Galle, starting tomorrow afternoon (April 04). The last rites are scheduled for April 06 at 5:00 p.m. at the Dadalla Public Cemetery.
