Colombo s inflation increases to 2.2% in March 2026
Inflation in Colombo rose to 2.2% in March 2026, up from 1.6% in February 2026, according to new information from the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS). The Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) for March 2026 reached 195.8, which is an increase of 0.5 points from February's 195.3. In addition, year-on-year (Y-o-Y) inflation for food items rose to 0.7% in March, compared to 0.2% in February. The inflation rate for non-food items also went up, reaching 2.9% in March from 2.3% in February 2026. For March 2026, food products contributed 0.23% to the overall inflation, while non-food items contributed 1.97%, as reported by the DCS.
