Major General (Retired) Suresh Sallay, the former Head of the State Intelligence Service, has been released from the Colombo National Hospital after receiving treatment for a sudden illness. He has now returned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he is still being held. Major General Sallay was taken into custody by the CID on February 25 in Peliyagoda as part of the ongoing investigation into the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings. He was hospitalized yesterday due to a sudden health issue, which was reported to the Magistrate. After a medical examination, he was referred to a doctor and admitted to the National Hospital based on medical advice. Suresh Sallay is currently under a 90-day detention order for questioning regarding his suspected connections to the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks. Family members have sought permission to visit him to check on his health, but their request was not approved.
