Case against MP Chamara Sampath to be taken up in April

The Colombo High Court has scheduled the case involving Member of Parliament Chamara Sampath Dassanayake for April 30, 2026. This decision was made during a court session today, October 24, where Judge Ravindra Premaratne presided, according to a report from Ada Derana. After reviewing the details of the case, the judge ordered a pre-trial conference for that date. The allegations against MP Chamara Sampath date back to his time as Chief Minister of Uva Province in 2016, when he is accused of illegally depositing a cheque meant for the Provincial Council into his own bank account.
