Showers expected in parts of the island today
Showers and thundershowers are forecasted for various areas in Sri Lanka today, particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Northwestern provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara-Eliya districts after 2:00 PM on the 13th, according to the Department of Meteorology. Some locations in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, along with the Galle and Matara districts, may experience fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm. A few showers could also be seen in the Uva and Eastern provinces. Elsewhere in Sri Lanka, mainly clear weather is expected. Additionally, misty conditions are likely in the Western, Central, and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, and Kurunegala districts during the early morning hours. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the risk of damage from temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
