No revision of bus fares despite fuel price hike - NTC
The National Transport Commission (NTC) of Sri Lanka has confirmed that there will be no changes to bus fares, even after the recent rise in fuel prices. Dr. Nilan Miranda, the Director General of the NTC, explained that the increase in diesel prices, effective from midnight on October 9, does not justify a change in bus fares. He assured that the current fare system will stay the same. In related news, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (Ceypetco) announced a major adjustment to fuel prices, also effective from midnight on October 9, due to climbing global fuel costs linked to the conflict in the Middle East. The new prices are: Auto Diesel – Rs. 303 (up by Rs. 22), Super Diesel – Rs. 353 (up by Rs. 24), Petrol 92 Octane – Rs. 317 (up by Rs. 24), Petrol 95 Octane – Rs. 365 (up by Rs. 25), and Kerosene – Rs. 195 (up by Rs. 13).
