Lorry driver arrested for assaulting two police officers in Kalutara
A lorry driver has been taken into custody for allegedly attacking two police officers and ripping their uniforms in Kalutara. The Kalutara South Police reported that this incident happened when the officers tried to arrest the driver for dangerous driving. The 31-year-old suspect is from Payagala. Police said he was driving his lorry toward Katukurunda when he was stopped at a roadblock at Nagoda Junction. The assault occurred after a disagreement during the vehicle inspection. The two police officers who were hurt were taken to Nagoda Teaching Hospital for medical care. One officer suffered a cut on his left hand. The suspect will appear in Kalutara Magistrate’s Court soon.
