Circular issued on providing Rs. 5 million for homes destroyed by Cyclone Ditwah
The Defence Ministry has released a circular regarding financial support of Rs. 5 million for families in Sri Lanka whose homes were completely destroyed by Cyclone Ditwah. This funding is intended to help them rebuild their houses. The circular specifies how to identify homes that are fully damaged, following guidelines from the National Building Research Institute (NBRO). During a Parliamentary debate on the 8th of this month, Minister Bimal Rathnayake explained more about this initiative. He mentioned that the Rs. 5 million allocation will kickstart housing construction in the districts of Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, and Puttalam, where NBRO's recommendations are not needed. The full circular includes detailed guidelines on house damage.
