A shooting incident in Kaduwela resulted in one death and two injuries. The event took place last night (01) between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Menikagara Road in Koratota, Nawagamuwa, as reported by police. Initial investigations by the Nawagamuwa Police show that the attack was aimed at three people who were inside a rented house. The assailants arrived on a motorcycle and a three-wheeler, fired shots, and quickly left the area. A 20-year-old man from Borella was shot near the bathroom and died at the scene. The two injured individuals, residents of Wadiyagoda in Ambalantota and Dematagoda, were first taken to the Oruwala Regional Hospital in Athurugiriya and later moved to the Homagama Base Hospital for more treatment. One of the injured individuals suffered four gunshot wounds, while the other had one. Police found 15 spent 9mm bullet casings at the site of the shooting. They also noted that the three victims had moved into the rented house about a month and a half ago and were at a New Year’s party when the shooting occurred. The reason behind the shooting is still unclear, but police believe it may involve a conflict between two gangs.
