Today, parts of Sri Lanka will experience showers or thundershowers, particularly in the Northern and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Puttalam and Trincomalee districts, according to the Department of Meteorology. Some areas in the Northern province may see fairly heavy rainfall of around 50 mm. The Uva province and the districts of Matale, Kurunegala, Ampara, and Batticaloa will also receive several spells of rain. After 1:00 p.m., showers or thundershowers are expected in various other locations across the island, with some receiving heavy rainfall of about 75 mm. Additionally, misty conditions could develop in certain areas of the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Southern provinces during the early morning hours. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce risks from strong winds and lightning that may occur during thundershowers.
