The hotel belonging to former North-Central Province Governor Maheepala Herath, situated on the Peramiyankulama tank reservation, was demolished on the orders of the Divisional Secretary in keeping with the ongoing demarcation of tank reservations in the Anuradhapura district. Nuwaragama Palatha Divisional Secretary Sudarashana Disanayake confimed this today. He said he had on September 18 informed the former Governor’s wife Ajantha Herath to demolish the hotel which was an unauthorised building on the tank reservation. The Department of Irrigation with the help of the Department of Survey has implemented the govenment policy to demarcate the tank reservations in the Anuradhapura district and to remove the unauthorised buildings. The Disivional Secretary further said the survey of the Peramiyankulama tank reservation has been completed.
