LNP - Gradual decline in conducting PCR tests: GMOA

30 Jun 2021 By Tyronne Jayamanne Local

According to the daily report issued by the health Ministry, there is a gradual decline in conducting PCR tests, Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) Secretary Dr. Shenal Fernando said. Addressing the media, he said the GMOA had earlier pointed out that conducting PCR tests at a stable rate is very essential. "The most important thing is to keep conducting random PCR tests, and for that, a consistent quantity should be assigned," Dr. Fernando said. The daily random PCR test positive rate should be issued by the Health Ministry to provide an accurate picture of the current situation. However, the decline of the PCR tests will not be a green light for COVID to spread. We are unable to identify the true image of the virus spread in the country because we are not producing accurate data. Therefore, the GMAOA requests the Health Ministry to conduct the PCR tests in a stable manner.
