Sri Lanka Police has announced a special traffic management plan for Colombo on May 7 and 8 due to the official visit of the President of Vietnam. Traffic will be restricted on the night of May 7 as the motorcade travels from Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) to central Colombo. Restrictions will also be in effect on the morning and evening of May 8 as the President moves to key locations such as the Presidential Secretariat, the Colombo Public Library, the Parliament of Sri Lanka, and the President’s House. The Police Media Division noted that traffic limits will be enforced on the affected roads during these times because of VIP security. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed on these routes two hours before the VIP movements, and other vehicles will have temporary restrictions during the passage of the convoy. Drivers are urged to take alternative routes during these times, and the police have asked the public for their cooperation to reduce any inconvenience.
