Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu expressed optimism about resolving visa problems for Maldivians living in Sri Lanka during his state visit. He met with the Maldivian community in Sri Lanka yesterday and shared that progress has been made over the past two years in addressing these visa issues. “The Sri Lankan government is prioritizing a lasting solution,” he mentioned, noting that their High Commissioner is in touch with the Foreign Ministry regarding the matter. He received assurances from the Sri Lankan President that the concerns, which date back several years, are being tackled and that a permanent solution is on the horizon. President Muizzu added that discussions with relevant Sri Lankan officials are ongoing to finalize the arrangements during this state visit.
