CEB prepared to provide power for New Year festivities – Minister

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is ready to supply electricity for the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations happening across Sri Lanka this month, as announced by Minister Vijitha Herath. During the weekly Cabinet media briefing on April 7, the Minister shared that the necessary arrangements are in place to provide electricity for these events, provided that the required fees are paid. Organizers can access electricity from the CEB between April 15 and April 19 by completing their payments. Minister Herath highlighted the need for efficient use of electricity during the festive season, noting that a reliable power supply is crucial for events like New Year festivals and musical performances. He assured that the CEB will offer the needed support to maintain a consistent electricity supply for these celebrations during the designated dates.
