This morning (June 6), there was a serious accident on the Southern Expressway close to the Welipenna service area. A truck hit the back of a container truck that was in front of it. The driver of the truck that crashed later died from his injuries. The crash happened near the 40-kilometer mark, between the Dodangoda and Welipenna interchanges. After the accident, heavy traffic was reported on the road going towards Matara, according to a reporter from Ada Derana.
