Energy conservation program introduced in schools
The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education in Sri Lanka has launched the “Surakimu Lanka” energy conservation program for schools. This initiative aims to create a culture of saving energy in schools. It focuses on using energy wisely within the school system, while also improving energy safety and protecting the environment. To support this program, the Ministry will issue a new circular to explain how it will work. Schools are expected to complete the necessary activities before the end of the first term, just before the school holidays begin, according to a statement from the Ministry of Education. If schools cannot meet this deadline, the Ministry has suggested that principals and school leaders choose another suitable date to carry out the program.
