Over 900 arrested in island-wide anti-drug raids

A total of 906 people were arrested during operations conducted yesterday (April 4) as part of the "Nation United - National Drive" campaign, which aims to eliminate drugs in Sri Lanka. The Police reported that they have also started investigations into 12 individuals regarding illegal assets. Additionally, 15 suspects are being held under detention orders. In these operations, 592 people were arrested on suspicion as part of the ongoing crime and drug prevention efforts. The Police identified four individuals who were directly connected to criminal activities during the raids. They also apprehended 229 wanted suspects and 121 individuals who had open warrants. Moreover, 142 drunk drivers and 77 people for reckless driving were taken into custody. Legal action has been initiated against 4,486 individuals for various traffic violations, according to the Police.
