Niece of slain IRGC commander Qasem Soleimani to be deported from US
The niece of Qasem Soleimani, a senior commander in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps who was killed by the US in 2020, has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, along with her daughter. Both are now facing deportation, according to an announcement from the State Department today. The statement said that while living in the US, Afshar promoted propaganda for the Iranian government, celebrated attacks on American soldiers and military sites in the Middle East, praised the new Iranian Supreme Leader, labeled America as the “Great Satan,” and expressed strong support for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, which is recognized as a terrorist organization. Afshar and her child were residing in Los Angeles. In a different post on X, Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted that both Afshars held US Green Cards, which he has since revoked. Rubio stated, “The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.”
