Fairly heavy rainfall expected in several provinces
The Meteorology Department of Sri Lanka has announced that the weather will be suitable for afternoon thundershowers across many areas of the island. Showers or thundershowers are expected to start in several regions after 2:00 p.m. Some locations in the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North-central, and Eastern provinces may see fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm. Additionally, morning showers could occur in the Eastern province and Hambantota district. Early morning misty conditions are likely in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, and North-central provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala and Vavuniya districts. The public is advised to take necessary precautions to reduce the impact of temporary strong winds and lightning during the thundershowers.
