The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has informed residents that some areas in the Colombo District will experience water supply interruptions today, April 3, due to dry weather affecting Sri Lanka. In a statement released yesterday, April 2, the Board noted that areas such as Padukka, Homagama, Palanwatta, and Pannipitiya, which rely on the Kalatuwawa and Labugama Reservoirs, will be impacted. Currently, the water cut in Padukka started at 8:00 p.m. yesterday and will end at 8:00 p.m. today. The Homagama area will face a 24-hour water suspension starting at 8:00 p.m. today and lasting until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow, April 4. Following that, Palanwatta will experience water cuts from 8:00 p.m. on April 4 until 8:00 p.m. on April 5. The NWSDB explained that these water interruptions will follow a rotational schedule every three days in the affected areas. However, the Board reassured residents that water will be available continuously on days without scheduled cuts. The next water cuts will take place on April 7 in Padukka, April 8 in Homagama, and April 9 in Palanwatta.
