The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board, which is part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation, has launched a special insurance plan for divers in Sri Lanka. This program supports the government's fisheries policy, according to the Board. If a diver dies while diving for fish, the scheme will pay Rs. 1.2 million in compensation. To enroll in this annual plan, divers need to pay a premium of Rs. 1,920. Furthermore, the Board offers an annual insurance option of Rs. 1.5 million for a premium of Rs. 2,550, and an annual coverage of Rs. 2.0 million for a cost of Rs. 3,600. The scheme also includes benefits for cases of total permanent disability, temporary disability, or if a fisherman goes missing during work.
